Thank you for the insightful article regarding brain injury. It seems odd that after so many years, I'm trying to understand the ramifications of my brain bleed in 1966. There were no MRI's back then, so multiple tests and weeks in the hospital, still resulted in guessing my diagnosis. It was wrong. I now know I have an Angioma against my brain stem that bled, leaving me totally paralyzed on my left side. By the time I was allowed to return to high school, I was walking with a cane and my left arm and hand were dead weight. No one knew I would suffer long term effects, so my stroke was considered over and not to be discussed. This past year I have had a concussion with amnesia, four weeks out of the trauma unit with a broken right hand, I was attacked by a 175 lb. Great Dane, leaving me with 25 deep crushing puncture wounds and a torn rotary cuff. Surgeries and months of rehabilitation later, I drove right into a medium going 30 miles an hour. It jarred my brain and I've been crying for a month. I went to see a Neurologist who had me do an EEG and an MRI (with and without contrast) today. I meet with Dr. Arkin Dec. 15th to discuss the results. I've had no support, interest, or understanding my entire life. It is very exciting to finally have people sharing their stories, support and advice. I'm an avid researcher who's been thrilled to find a wealth of information on-line. The Doctors don't share information with patients, so getting a MAC has been a great resource. I know now it's up to me to research my problems and ask for the tests I need. Once again, thank you for being on line, so I may continue to understand my problems. Wishing you all inner and outer peace during a difficult time in our country.
